Keep on Keeping on…

We are officially finished with training camp! In four short days, our team has grown into a family; I'm so very excited to spend the next four months with these beautiful people! Only God could have orchestrated a team of  16 deferent personalities into such a tight knit crew.   In two days I will officially be in Uganda! I am so excited to see what God has in store. I know that crazy things will happen and my life will be completely changed, I am expecting an outpouring of the holy spirit. Having the privilege to spread love over a whole town is a privilege i will...

So…I was supposed to blog about a little boy today…

But God just has a different direction for my blog today. So I apologize if any of ya’ll were looking forward to that. Ha. I’ve always thought I was being called to Africa to minister to the people of Africa. That would make sense, right? But throughout a month of being here I’ve realized that’s not why God sent me to Africa. Obviously I’m ministering to the people of Africa, and I will continue to, and continue to pray that BIG things happen within these people. BUT. My sole purpose of being here is to minister to my team-mates. Which is so weird to me. I’ve...

2. “We’re in Sudan?”

Hello everyone… I am alive and well. Friday morning at 7 am we got dropped off at the airport to begin our journey to Uganda. Things went a little like this: -chilled at the airport all day until our flight left at 3 pm -arrived in Amsterdam at 5:30 am (their time) -hopped on a train and went downtown Amsterdam during our layover -got on another plane and flew into Nairobi around 8:15 pm Saturday -Stayed overnight in Nairobi & went to the bus stop around 3 pm Sunday to head to Uganda -waited… and waited… and waited. 9 pm got on a bus.  -arrived at the...

This is not Brentwood

I have been gone for just over a week and I miss the comforts of my home. I miss my family, my friends, food anytime I want, and especially HOT SHOWERS! But even though I miss all that, there’s not a place in the entire world I would rather be. I love this place, and yesterday was just my first day in Lira. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the rest of our trip.   We have experienced 16 hours on a plane, 5 hours waiting at a bus station, and over 31 hours of bus travel on roads that would send you flying out of your seat every few seconds. But my personal favorite...

There’s no place I would rather be!

"There's no place I'd rather be than here in your love". These are the lyrics I was listening to monday morning. As I sit on my bed, swaying side to side, thriving in pain from a burning sensation in my stomach, tiered from being sick all night, worshiping the Lord because there was really nothing else I could do; tears began to stream down my face. My teammates asked what was wrong and I somehow blubbered out, "I'm just so happy". Now that's a funny thing for a person to say when they're suffering from "the malaria". But I was. I didn't...

Jolly jolly joe joeee

Wow. Only a week left in Lira. So crazy.  I don't think I'll ever get used to the fact that I'm in Africa…it definitely doesn't seem like we've been here for almost 4 months. At all. It has become apparent, however, how much Africa is messing with my ability to act in a way that is socially acceptable. I've realized how drastically less awkward I feel interacting with people here. And for a while this made me feel better about myself, but upon further examination, I've realized that this is mostly just because Africans don't really think anything is...
