Stolen

Do you remember the 2 little boys I told you about, Manuel and Immanuel? Yeah, they're street kids and they stole something of mine.  June 18th-Today we were supposed to hike a mountain, but the van broke down, so we walked to Victory and had prayer hour. The two boys showed up and held my hands throughout all of worship. It was the first time they entered the church with me. Manuel must've been exhausted because he fell asleep on my lap. It was such a gift to be able to watch his chest rise and fall as he rested and to know that in that moment he felt safe. When he woke up...

Give me visions to see things like you do

The title of this blog has been one of my biggest prayers while being in Lira…needless to say, God answers prayers. As I was riding in our van on the way to a primary school I was looking out the window at the people walking by and the children running, most of them dressed in clothes that were either covered completely in mud or torn so badly that they can barely stay on their backs, or a mixture of the two. I found my heart completely broken and crying out to God but at the same time I had this desire to take them all and buy them new clothes. As I was praying I had this vision that...

Engraved in my Heart

These chidren amaze me more and more every single day! Children with no parents, no food, no shelter, no clothes – smiling ear to ear with the joy of the Lord radiating through them. These children teach me more and more everyday about how to have joy in any circumstance no matter what. Ever since the first Saturday I can't get these two little boys i met out of my head.  Saturdays we play with Compassion sponsered kids, but these two particular boys were street kids – barely any clothes, who knows when their last meal was, and had no parents present. They must have...

growing, learning, stretching

this past week has been filled with many new expirences. many joys and frustrations. we have spent hours sitting inside doing office work and hours running around outside with children. we have been challenged with having servant hearts regardless of what task lies ahead of us. yesterday we started the day working inside filling papers for compassion kids and ended the day by visiting a primary boarding school where we had children clamoring all over us. i had children holding my wrists, the palms of my hand and i had one on each finger. due to the differing heights of the children, i was...

Let me ruin your day

Today was our charity work day where we go into a home of need and clean and cook for them. Today we met an elderly couple. The man could hardly move and the woman was nearly blind. Their 12 year old grandson lived with them, as well as 3 adult men.  We walked into the house, and it reeked of a conglomeration of different nastiness. Then we looked up at the curling and it was covered in cobwebs, as well as huge, scary, and possibly poisonous spiders. It was disgusting.  I thought I was going to barf, like I am not exaggerating. It was sick.  But that is not the point of this...

Oh adventure

My life has always been filled with many adventures and sponteous activities. Hiking, camping, creek swimming, skydiving, random road trips, etc are all this i absolutely love and crave.  Back at training camp we had a night of excerises for listening prayer. I was told twice, by two different people that they saw a green field. They didn't really know what it meant or what I could do about it. So I have been taking it to the Lord.  Since being here in LIra I haven't really been able to truly release my adventurous spirit. The other night I expressed this to our team. I...
