Bible Reading Plan

This morning i read Mark 10 i think. But i do know i read the story about the rich man this morning. This young man goes up to Jesus and asks him, "What must i do to get eternal life?" Jesus tells him to obey all the commandments and also to give up everything he has to follow him. The young rich ruler was good at following rules but when it came down to it he couldnt  give up what made him who he was. His identity was in the stuff that he had. I believe that passage means more than just giving up our money and giving it to some charity organization. Jesus is telling all of...

Hope

Recently, my team had the priveledge of spending one week evangelising on an island in Lake Victoria. As we approached  the island, a grouping of small, rundown shacks became visible. These shacks seemed to be made of scrap wood and metal, thrown together creating a maze of brokenness and need. It soon became clear that the people living in this small fishing village needed one thing. Hope. Evangelism is not always the easiest task. Often times in America, we find that people are closed off, or we are just too timid to approach them. But this was not America, this was the island of...

Information

First of all thanks for all the comments in my last blog! It's really encouraging to know that people are reading and keeping up with me. Second of all I had to do a boring blog title cause they told us not to. Sorry AIM. Lastly this blog is jus gonna be exactly what I called it. I have shared a lot about what God is doing but I don't think I've given you some idea of what life is like here and what I actually do here. So hopefully I can give you a good picture of what it's like. Going to the schools is a big thing we do here and we have done it a lot. We go...

8 People in a 4 Passenger Vehicle? Check.

I have almost been in Uganda a month and i have done/experienced so many different things that it would take awhile to explain them all. But the one thing that i really enjoy doing here is building relationships with the people here. The thing is about the Ugandan people is that once you start having a good conversation with them its really easy to open up with them and talk about almost anything since they are naturally open as well. So i would like to expound on some relationships that  I have made since ive been here. The first one was in Kampala when we stayed there for a couple...

all because of love. love. love. love. love.

I had never been to a prison before, never mind a Ugandan prison. So I really had no idea of what to expect. I kept trying to picture our ministry there as we waited to be let in the little door with a small lock on it. When we walked through the door, there was just an open dirt courtyard where men in yellow prison garb milled around.  From there we went into an open concrete room packed full of more men. They cleared some wooden benches for us and we joined some other people from the church who were also there to minister to the men. They had us introduce ourselves and say why we...

The Ja-Ja

A beautiful, thin, old Ugandan woman. She is well respected and highly esteemed in the Kyampisi community; and everyone, no matter of their race or age or home, is her grandchild: including us.     She has a weathered, wrinkled face, but her skin is still soft, retaining all the elasticity of her youth. When we first meet her, she drops to her knees in a prayer of thanks to God, saying, “Who am I that you should come meet and help me?”      When we praise the Lord at the end of the day, she brings herself to her feet, shaking her hips with as much...
