Kenya has been a place of spiritual awakening for me. There are days where I feel like everyone is sleeping, and I'm here to awaken them. I'm in Kenya to set the captives free.
Yesterday we were doing door to door ministry in a little town called Matayos. On our last stop of the day, we came to a hut with an interesting mix of people. A Muslim woman, a Catholic woman, and a man who had not received salvation but yearned for it. I started with the man on the right of the room, and began to work my way over. He was hungry for the power, and immediately received salvation. The Catholic woman told us that she was above salvation. She did not need a savior, and had no desire to talk to us and did not want us to pray for her. I told her God loves her deeply, and that we would pray for her as well as blessings for her family. I had specifically saved the Muslim woman for last. She had a deep yearning in her eyes. She told me that she had once been Christian, but had married a Muslim man and had to take up his religion.
I asked her if her god ever spoke to her. "No." I asked her if she had ever seen her god heal the sick. "No." "Raise the dead?" "No." "Speak love over you?" "No." "Is your god even alive?" "I don't know."
"Well that doesn't sound very fun, does it?" I asked her. She laughed. I explained to her that my God does all that, and more. She told me her life was a lie, but had no choice because she wanted to continue fellowship with her husband.
As we left, I congratulated the man and told him that he had now been judged by God and was judged as righteous. That there was nothing He could do to make God love him anymore or any less. I told him that he is in better hands now, and that angels are having a huge celebration, just for him. I bent down and gave the Muslim woman a hug, and told her that my God thinks she's beautiful. That my God will always love her and call her by name. As she embraced me, she started to sob.
We've been seeing people getting saved left and right here. But there's still the few 'stragglers' who want nothing to do with faith not because they don't believe it's real, but because there are anchors such as their family holding them back. The seeds have been planted in the village of Matayos. We just need to give it time. Please pray for the harvest. God has huge plans for the village of Matayos.
