…simply by the Lord's goodness. Do ya'll remember the little children who helped me pick weeds in Popia's garden?Well, the Lord has left Oliver, Garby, Melissa, Ruth, and Jonathan on my heart. I've gone back to see them many times since that day.
I actually have a prayer request, and I'm asking you to pray with conviction and to truly believe that the Lord is Healer. Little Jonathan has some sort of disease on his feet and he's in so much pain, yet he still has the biggest smile on his face.
I can't really go into too much detail about all that I've done this past week for the sake of time, but I want to share one really special experience.
Today was our day off from ministry and I asked the Lord what I could do, and He clearly said to go pray for Jonathan. So Ben and Julia came with me to the little shop and we prayed over him. I had the privilege of meeting his mother, Mercy, and she thanked us for praying. Then we danced with the children in our arms as we sang Disney songs 😀 We laughed so so much and so hard. It was truly a joy to simply play with the children rather than working as we usually do. But let me tell you–these children are some of the hardest workers and they serve with JOY. Even though they wear the same clothes every day, don't really have a lot of food, and their bodies are in pain, they have JOY.
I thought I knew what joy was, but last night the Holy Spirit gave me some words from my brother Ben, "I want you to go home and have joy with the things you love and have joy about, but I want you to remember that joy is not about what's good(or isn't)…it's about WHO is good."
My whole perspective on joy is completely shifted, and I think I finally understand why little Jonathan can hardly walk because his feet are covered in sores, yet still smiles and sings songs about Jesus…because he knows Him, and He is good.
And as for my quiet time, I've finally started reading the Old Testament after YEARS of being afraid of reading it. And ya'll need to read Exodus. Seriously, if you want to be left in awe of God's power and restoration, read Exodus.
I love ya'll and I'm so thankful for your encouragement and prayers. The team is fantastic and a wonderful family 🙂
And for all you Moms out there reading, your sons are upstanding gentlemen of God and they would do ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING to take care of us girls..and as for the girls, they are compassionate, loving, and so much fun. Thank YOU for having such wonderful children <3
