I am continually amazed by the amount of joy the people, but especially the children of Uganda have. Even in the midst of such poverty they have the brightest smiles that capture your heart. Whenever I am surrounded by children here, I am overwhelmed by their love. I can only hope they feel as loved by me as I do by them.
Today our team went to a Sunday church service at Kinyansano Cathedral. There I sat with a six year old girl and her two little sisters. None of us spoke the same language but it didn’t matter. The Lord continuously reminds me that love can transcend any language barrier. This became extremely obvious during the first worship song when the little girl grabbed my hand and started twirling and dancing around.
The joy this little girl had was overflowing; all I could do was smile and dance along with her. Psalm 47:1-2 says, “Come, everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise! For the Lord Most High is awesome.” Worship has the ability to bring people together because all that is needed is love for Jesus.
This girl’s joy and ability to love made me think of 1 Peter 4:8 which says, “Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.” Each day I am here God continues to reaffirm that I am exactly where I’m suppose to be by putting people in my life like this little girl.
