Today was our charity work day where we go into a home of need and clean and cook for them. Today we met an elderly couple. The man could hardly move and the woman was nearly blind. Their 12 year old grandson lived with them, as well as 3 adult men.
We walked into the house, and it reeked of a conglomeration of different nastiness. Then we looked up at the curling and it was covered in cobwebs, as well as huge, scary, and possibly poisonous spiders. It was disgusting.
I thought I was going to barf, like I am not exaggerating. It was sick.
But that is not the point of this story.
Since I've been in Africa and even before I have prayed that the Lord would break my heart for His people, and today He did. The twelve year old boy we met was named Dan, and his parents died so that is why he lived with his grandparents, the men that were there we're his uncles who did not have a job and the only thing they did was play on their.computer, we were told that they did not help or do anything. Dan used to go to school but had to stop going not because the family couldn't afford it but because he had to take care of his grandparents.
I saw the grown men and immediately my heart was angered. This little boy is being robbed of an education, and of a childhood because these men can't step it up and help out. They don't even have jobs.
"THIS IS HOW I FEEL" immediately was whispered softly but strongly in my heart. Righteous anger.
The boy doesn't even own shoes. But do you know what he did have?
A ridiculous smile, tthat melted my heart, a ridiculous joy that gave me peace, a ridiculous God who does miracles in hopeless situations.
Please pray for the people here. Uganda is a place of hope and God is here working but there are kids, families, and lonely people looking for a Savior who haven't found Him yet. Please pray for my little friend and our brother in Christ, Dan.
