It’s an I Love Africa Day

Patience is the official word concerning the past two weeks. While the students are in class, most of our team doesn't have much to do except sit and wait until the studens are out of class. The first week where we sat around was the hardest week here so far. I felt useless and anxious to do something productive until five o clock rolled around and we could hang out with the students. All week I questioned why we were placed in this school. On Friday of that week I had been praying that negative spirit off of me and I also prayed for opportunities; guess what? God completely answered me! Friday afternoon Ashlin and I spent four and a half hours with some of the older boys taking tea, talking, and worshiping. I couldn't have asked for a better time! I left the school that night with so much joy and comfort. "It's an I love Africa day" has left my mouth every day since that night.

I have come to realize that any day spent with God is not a day wasted, but a day full of purpose and opportunity! We still have down time at the school but I get to spend hours praying, journaling, writing bible verses and encouraging words to the boys, and coming up with ideas to help the school. Sarah Ann and I came up with a crazy idea to start a choir; we talked to the head teacher about our plans and he loved it. We have both been in choir for years, but we have never taught anything like it. God is funny sometimes. We had our first meeting on Thursday and about twenty students showed up, which was a ton  more than we expected. We taught them "Father I adore you" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". They picked up the songs fast and continue to tell Sarah Ann and I that they have been practicing and they can't wait till the next meeting.

My God answers prayers fully and past any of my expectations. I am in awe every day about what God is doing with me and through me. I love how he supplies me with  joy, patience, and a ridiculous amount of love. I love my team. I love my new Ugandan friends. I love the beauty this land holds. I Love Africa.
