….Negative!!!
Praise Report! My entire team is malaria negative. Praise God!
And now, it is time for my real blog.
This week has been an off week. I’ve had really bad sinus’s all week, so I haven’t done much ministry. So here is a little something I got out of my quiet timeJ
I looked up the word scarlet and found it in two different verses. The first verse was Isaiah 1:18-20 and the other was Matthew 27:27-31. What interested me the most about the passages wasn’t their similarity, but rather the context that they’re in and how the word is used.
Take a look..
Isaiah 1:18-20
“Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient you will eat the best from the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
Matthew 27:27-31
“Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the praetorium and they gathered the whole company of soldiers around Him. They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt in front of Him and mocked Him. “Hail, King of the Jews!” they said. They spit on Him, and took the staff and struck Him on the head again and again. After they had mocked Him, they took off the robe and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him away to crucify Him.”
So here we see two different uses of the word scarlet. In the first verses, the word scarlet was used as a description of what our sins look like, and in the second verse they are describing the color of the robe the Roman soldiers placed on Jesus’ back right before He was crucified. But when I saw this different use of this word, the thought came to my mind that I don’t think this is a coincidence. I don’t believe it is a coincidence that Isaiah talks about our sins looking like scarlet, then right before Jesus is led to be crucified a scarlet robe is placed on His shoulders.
Thank You, Jesus for bearing the scarlet robe on Your back for my sake. I don’t deserve for my sins to no longer stain my life and heart, but You found love and favor for this sin filled heart. Thank You!
