Chapatti, boda boda’s, and joy

HEY EVERYBODY!!

Sorry it has taken me so long to blog!
It is so crazy to think i have only been gone for two weeks because so much has happened in such a short amount of time! I dont even know where to begin to tell the stories!

Uganda truly is the pearl of Africa! The people here are so beautiful and everyone is just so welcoming to us!
After spending a few days in Kampala where we met a young girl Alice who came up to ask and asked us if we were born agains and then proceeded to ask us to help her know Jesus. We were all so amazed at God for bringing her to us and for her courage to come up to 15 "mzungos" (white person) and ask that. After Kampala we took a long bus ride to Lira where I discovered my new obsession with chapatti which is this fried bread they make that is so delicious.

You know your in Africa when…
– you say "Hello" to someone and their response is "You are welcome"
-when you think the the things on the ground that look like leaves are actually thousands of bug wings (God has protected me so much from the bugs so far =]
– when all you have to do is smile at precious African child and they immediately run into your arms
– when you can go without showering for days and that is acceptable
– when you walk down the street and people stare and call us "mzungos" (totally normal here! lol)
– when you eat road goat
– when you get happy when you get to use a regular toilet and not a hole in the ground
-when you can so easily have a relationship with people without actually speaking any words
– when you squeeze three people on a boda boda (small motercycle) and have an adventure riding around town next to cows and whatever other crazy stuff on the streets

the list goes on and one but needless to say i love it here!!
I cant wait to start really digging in to ministry – I hope to be pouring into a local orphanage and work with street kids/former rebel soilders while i am here and i cant wait for the stories.

The joy in these people is the most captivating thing to me. These people have next to nothing yet they are so full of joy and love. With just a smile and a wave these people light up so much and are just so glad we came to see them. This is why i love Africa! Seeing the happiness in these people inspires me so much. They love life and love God even more and they are teaching me more and more about Jesus' love each day!

Side note: today three of us got to go to a medical field clinic and stand in on two surgies which was so cool to see! its crazy how in Uganda you can be anything you want – a docter one day and teacher the next!

I am expecting God to move in big ways over these next few months and i cant wait to see how and what His purpose for me being here is!
Please pray for boldness in Christ and patience to wait and see what God's pirpose for me here is!
