Bittersweet

Leaving beautiful Uganda definately is a bittersweet experience. As I sit here in Kampala, waiting all day to go to the airport, I can't help but think back over these short two months I have spent here.
This morning I got the best wakeup call from precious Susan and Polly, who are two of the Alpha staff that are like my family now! Hearing their voices really made me miss them and realize how much I really love them.

There are so many things I will miss about this place:
1. of course my Susan and Shelby, Polly, Cissy – their joy, love, smiles, hugs, laughs
2. The complete joy and hope in Christ everyone has and realizing that TRUE joy has nothing at all to do with circumstances – these people have lost family, homes, jobs, children, EVERYTHING and have so much faith in God and truly have pure joy in Him
3. The friendliness of everyone- people always waving, greeting, and genuinely asking how you are and always wanting to get to know you better
4. The kids and their precious smiles and laughs- all they want is someone to love them. Walking down the street and by the time you reach your destination you have about 20 kids following you just because your white
5. Church – the worship is so powerful and fun. These people walk for miles to reach church and praise God with all their heart – so encouraging to see and be a part of
6. Chapati 🙂 the best bread tortilla thing I have ever had – pretty sure I ate 20 pounds of it over the last two months
7. Boda boda rides – SOO fun!
8. How cheap everything is : ))
9. Cutting the head of a chicken off
10. Monkeys everywhere!
11. Scrubbing in on surgery : ))
AND SOO MUCH MORE!

Things I won't miss:
1. BUGS
2. Sleeping in a mosquito net and having to tuck it in tight every night and then trapping a mosquito in the net with you
3. Mystery meats
4. Cramming 14 people in a 8 person vehicle
5. Interesting smells

Looking back over the last two months makes me smile so much. I have met amazing people with the most genuine hearts, learned so much about Gods unfailing joy, His reckless love for us, the comforting hope found in all of Him, and His undeserved grace poured out on us daily.

I can't wait to see what God has in store for me next. I pray that God will continue to grow me and mold me into the woman of Christ He has made me to be.

Take my life, take all that I am
With all that I am I will love you
Take my heart, take all that I have
Jesus, how I adore you

Thankyou to everyone that has been following my journey – it means alot to me and I am so blessed by you all!
