This morning i read Mark 10 i think. But i do know i read the story about the rich man this morning. This young man goes up to Jesus and asks him, "What must i do to get eternal life?" Jesus tells him to obey all the commandments and also to give up everything he has to follow him. The young rich ruler was good at following rules but when it came down to it he couldnt give up what made him who he was. His identity was in the stuff that he had. I believe that passage means more than just giving up our money and giving it to some charity organization. Jesus is telling all of us if we dont give up who we are and the identity we have created then we truly cant follow him.
It is a struggle here alot of times because everybody asks for money. Or they do this number, " Hey muzungu(white person), give me my money!" But instead we must give the God we have come to know to them instead of our money, cause we cant give everybody money. SO here is the point im trying to make. If we dont give up ourselves. The identity we have created then we cant give other people God. We can only give earthly things and those dont last. Let us give the people around us something that will last.
