The Found Coin

Today after a morning building a well, our team went throughout the village of Kyampisi doing evangilism. Four of us and a translator headed a mile or so down the dirt road and felt that we should go to the two locals bars and talk to people there. The first bar we went to had no customers, just one lady working, waiting for people to come. As a team we decided to leave. I was instantly convicted and reminded of the parable of the lost coin. In this parable, a woman rejoices over finding one lost coin, in the same way that angels rejoice when one person becomes a Christian. Instead of...

I Asked For It

I’ve been asking God to teach me to love beyond my capacity. I thought it would come through a subtle change in heart. I thought it would be easy. I never thought it would hurt. I never thought it would expose my heart, leaving me in utter vulnerability and brokenness.   During the first couple weeks of the trip, I remember walking through a trail, asking some of my teammates about their lives and what their passions were. One said she was studying special education. I told her how I thought it was so respectable and honorable, but it was a ministry I didn’t think I could...

Faith of The Childlike

As I write this blog, I only have 9 more days of ministry in Lira. This is so hard to believe, I feel like I just arrived here. The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of emotional highs and lows. One thing has been consistent though, and that is God's goodness. No matter what situation I find myself in here I know that He has a plan for it all and it is ultimately for my good. So whether I think it is the best doesn't matter; because His ways are higher than my ways, and His thoughts are higher than my thoughts. He is God and I am not. And the fact of the matter is no matter what my...

Dream Come True Uganda.

Last week we had the incredible opportunity to stay in the village with a family. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity to stay with Kadenge's family because he is pretty much my Ugandan son. I don't think I actually understood how crazy the week was going to be. Me, Jessie, 5 kids and our mom stayed in a house approximately the size of a small hotel bathroom and all slept together on 2 mattresses on the floor.  On the second night Jessie got a little sick so she went back to the Jesus house for the night which left me alone for the night. I was initially slightly completely...

There is More

I came to Uganda anticipating holding African babies and getting a good chaco tan. While I have done these things, I have also experienced so much more. I have seen more of God than I ever have before, more of His love and more of His power. I did not come here expecting to be radically changed, but that is exactly what has happened. God has changed me. I have learned so much fom the people here. Just like Brittany said, they really do have a childlike faith here that we are so lacking in America. When these people pray for healing, they fully believe that God will bring healing. Since...

Bible Reading Plan

This morning i read Mark 10 i think. But i do know i read the story about the rich man this morning. This young man goes up to Jesus and asks him, "What must i do to get eternal life?" Jesus tells him to obey all the commandments and also to give up everything he has to follow him. The young rich ruler was good at following rules but when it came down to it he couldnt  give up what made him who he was. His identity was in the stuff that he had. I believe that passage means more than just giving up our money and giving it to some charity organization. Jesus is telling all of...
