Holy Spirit Party!

I don't really even have a lot of words to say about it, but I just thought you should know that God and the Spirit have been moving and working in our team here in Uganda.  A couple days ago, we had a time of worship, and the Spirit just fell.  One guy spoke in tongues for the first time.  Another guy broke down in worship at the revelation that God does still speak to Him.  And another girl broke down in worship at the revelation that the gift of tongues is not dead.   And all of that doesn't even include the amazing morning of ministry we had, which I...

Humbled to Joyfulness

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4   My alarm went off at about 5 AM.  Obviously still way too tired, I hit the snooze button a couple times before finally getting out of bed at around 5:15.  Not in the best mood, I brushed my teeth and got dressed before walking outside into the pitch black darkness, the sun not rising for another 45 minutes or so.  We were all ready to leave at 5:45, but unfortunately, our driver, Patrick, overslept, and we ended up waiting around in the dark for 15 or 20 minutes before leaving around 6.  We...

A Dream of Nine

Yesterday we had plans to do door to door ministry with one of the pastors from our contact church, but as usual in Africa, our plans were thrown off when we got to the church and found that Pastor James had decided to go out of town for the day. Upon this discovery, we just prayed and asked God what we should do, and we decided to go without Pastor James. On this journey, God led us to a nursery school called Happy Times where we met the director, who was strangely excited to see us. He began to tell us about his dream for the school. He had left his hometown to move to Lira and follow...

Quinto’s Dream Comes True?

Hey bloggies! So, I've been in Uganda for five days now, and it's been … interesting. Before I left training camp I was told what to expect, and that there is not usually a good explanation for why it happened except for "this is Africa." I have found this to be very, very true. Every day we've gone to do a ministry, it hasn't worked out. Yesterday we waited for nearly two hours for our van to pick us up, the morning before that we went to do a prison ministry to be told it was moved to next week, and the day before that an orphan ministry, only to be told...

Super Fun Uganda Time

Everything is super fun in Uganda. At training camp, every morning we had this thing called “super fun morning time” where we would do super fun things like dance routines to help wake us up. Our team rocked at it, so of course we incorporated the term into just about everything we’ve been doing here in Uganda. Things like “super fun nap time”, “super fun story time”, “super fun Jesus time”, “super fun dart game” and so on.   (Super fun dart game plays a big part in this so let me explain what that is. The dart game is...

Safe and Having a Great time in Uganda!

Hey everyone who knows someone on the Uganda team! Just letting you know that the team is safe and having a great time here in Lira, Uganda!  The people here are so friendly, and it's been a blessing to be served by and serve along side them.  Yesterday, we had a great time playing games with children, and today, we got to experience a very early African church service!
