Uganda Is Beautiful Again

Dear bloggies-   Week three in Uganda and all is well!  I’ve been having so much fun with everything going on here- playing with the children is probably one of my favorite things, but it’s always nice to get to break from the small ones jumping on you.  Today I had a nice break from children when I went to meet the woman who runs the microfinance office in the church we work with.  Her name is Doreen, and she has amazing insight into God and his heart, and her faith is unshakeable.   When I met with Doreen this morning, I was a little unsure of how our...

I’m In Love and Other Crazy Adventures

Being in Uganda has opened up many opportunities to adventures. Back in March when I was accepted to the Uganda Team, never would I have thought that I would do some of these things, or that I would fall in love. . . but I'll come to that later. My first adventure I want to tell you about is the transportations we have taken. There's the van driven by Patrick. He's an awesome driver, some times I wonder how he gets us through some of the roads. This van is meant for about 7 passengers (sorry for the fib in my last blog I was a little confused. . . we have been in a van meant...

Pure Passion

Pure Passion                 Growing up, I’ve always noticed people who have a true passion for the Lord. In the U.S. we truly have so much to thank God, so many things that we seem to forget how good we have it. In the nation of Uganda, however, there’s a much different story.               In Uganda, people’s basic needs are sometimes not even met. It truly makes you want to praise to be an American, but that’s not what this message is all...

check yo’self

Uganda has a way of putting people in their place, especially regarding attitudes. There is not a day that goes by without the guilt of feeling like you've complained too much, or weren't thankful enough for the people that served you, and so on. Comparision is so easy, and in a sense, difficult to avoid here. Our team has been so bad about comparing food from Uganda to food back home. We're constantly saying "Oh I miss this…", "Have you had this", or "Oh I really wish/hope I could have some of that right now." It got so bad, that we had to...

Faith Like a Child

One of our weekly ministries is going to a boarding school for 4-13 years olds. There are a few students who are older then 13 but thats because they were previously child soldiers so they lost those years that they should have spent in school. We get the opportunity to play and pour into over 200 kids. The last 30 minutes of our time is spent in prayer and worship. Listening to 200 kids worship and cry out to God is quite possibly one of the most powerful and amazing sounds on earth. I am not talking about the typical kids in the U.S. who have way to much energy and jump around...
