There IS

I could tell you how my heart has fallen deeper in love with this country… I could tell you that my heart has broken once again for the people here, and for their past… I could tell you that I just really want to cry again, and again for the hurt these people have gone through, but the tears won't come… I could tell you that even though the LRA is gone and the war has been over for about 5 years there is still so much hurt and pain still lingering… I could tell you that these people are still living in fear, that they are shackled by injustice, that they feel...

Woe to Me!

For the past 3 months we have been on our knees, crying out for God to show up here in Uganda. We are so desperate to see Gods kingdom collide with our small world. We have wanted to see, even if it was just a glimps, God in his glory. Well… this week it happened. God showed up. Really… there are no words to describe what happened. God is much bigger then our vocabulary but let me try to give you a small picture of what it looked like. We watched as people came face to face with Gods love and saw how it changed them. We celebrated with our new brothers and sisters. We...

The KCC

Oh the things we come up with while bored in Africa. We have invented countless games, played a number of card games, and just done some flat out crazy things due to boredom here. My time in the Alley!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A long, long time ago. But in the not to distant past. “Now the Star Wars theme is playing!!!!!!!!!!” It was a time of spiritual warfare and renagade paragraphs floating through space.I went back to that alley again, but this time I had a translator. Yay, translator!!!!!! We did door to door ministry down the market. I told everyone the great news about Jesus. None came to know him, they said that they ddn’t have enough faith. They need more time. I prayed with them, and told them if they had faith as small as a mustard seed they can be saved and born again. It’s so...

Maggots

Before I arrived in here, I had a few pre-existing expectations about Africa. One was that bugs are a common dish; you know, crickets, worms, and maggots. So far, I haven’t enjoyed this delicacy as much as I thought I would, but I definitely had some encounters, and unfortunately, they weren’t as culturally enlightening as I had hoped. Once, I decided to roast a giant grass hopper and popped it in my mouth. It was ok. My next experience wasn’t quite as ok; I wasn’t expecting it.   At Alpha Hotel, there are these trees that bear a fruit I have never seen...
