Woe to Me!

For the past 3 months we have been on our knees, crying out for God to show up here in Uganda. We are so desperate to see Gods kingdom collide with our small world. We have wanted to see, even if it was just a glimps, God in his glory. Well… this week it happened. God showed up. Really… there are no words to describe what happened. God is much bigger then our vocabulary but let me try to give you a small picture of what it looked like. We watched as people came face to face with Gods love and saw how it changed them. Tears of a Saint

The smallest verse in the bible, “Jesus wept” John 11:35, small and simple, but to me, it’s also very powerful. Today Jesus is weeping over, Uganda, the town of Pader, where we just visited, for Lira, for the U.S., for the world. For me I am also weeping. But in the not to distant past. “Now the Star Wars theme is playing!!!!!!!!!!” It was a time of spiritual warfare and renagade paragraphs floating through space.I went back to that alley again, but this time I had a translator. Yay, translator!!!!!! We did door to door ministry down the market. I told everyone the great news about Jesus. None came to know him, they said that they ddn’t have enough faith. They need more time. I prayed with them, and told them if they had faith as small as a mustard seed they can be saved and born again. It’s so...

Maggots

Before I arrived in here, I had a few pre-existing expectations about Africa. One was that bugs are a common dish; you know, crickets, worms, and maggots. So far, I haven’t enjoyed this delicacy as much as I thought I would, but I definitely had some encounters, and unfortunately, they weren’t as culturally enlightening as I had hoped. Once, I decided to roast a giant grass hopper and popped it in my mouth. It was ok. My next experience wasn’t quite as ok; I wasn’t expecting it.   At Alpha Hotel, there are these trees that bear a fruit I have never seen...
