“Hold back the uterus like this…”

Hysterectomy.    I helped perform a hysterectomy (look it up, as I have no intention of describing it here). I walked into a clinic, they handed me scrubs, and told me to help out, and the next thing I know they're straight-up gutting a lady on a table in front of me. It was quite entertaining, and I think I'll be going back to the clinic twice weekly to help out heretoafter. Regardless, it was a new experience, a strange experience, and an experience I may end up reliving.    I also got pictures and video footage. Fun!    On a more...

I didn’t dance.

Today isn't my day to blog, nor is it my free day, but plans got cancelled so I'm rolling with it.  Wednesday was a big day of firsts for most of the team, including myself.  The first thing we did was charity work, so I went to clean someone's house. Then the whole team went to the city and did door to door ministry,(a first) and after that we did a thing called open air. Let me touch on door to door first.  Three people, and a translator go to people's homes and tell them about Jesus. Kind of like the Jehovah's witness…but not. I really liked that...

A Unforgettable Woman

The women here are so beautifully amazing. They work harder than anyone i have ever witnessed in my life. From before the sun comes up until way past the sun goes down these women work their butts off! Constantly cleaning, caring for everyone in the family, and constantly serving. One woman that will forever be engrained in my heart is Susan. She is a staff member here at the Alpha Hotel that we are staying at and she is honestly the hardest worker I have ever met.  She is 25 years old and has a precious 11 month baby girl named Shelby. Susan works every single day at the hotel from...

Uganda: Beautiful faces.

Although I am surrounded by the beauty of African landscape, beautiful orange and pink sunsets, endless red dirt roads, and enough delicious fruit to last a lifetime, it's the people. Everday, I am overwhelmed by the beautiful hearts that surround me. Each day, God blesses me with gifts of smiles, joy, stories of redemption, and real struggle. The people of Uganda are beautiful! There are so many brothers and sisters I could talk about but let me introduce you to three in particular. Meet Patrick. He is our faithful driver. I have never seen more of a servant then this man who does not...

We climbed a mountain today, the same mountain we intended to climb last week. The wait was really worth it, and the experience didn't fail to measure up to the ideal in my mind. It took time, but not a very long time. I got some cuts and bruises, but that's all part of the territory. The top of the mountain gave a glorious panoramic view of the landscape, and if not for the vast amount of green we beheld, it seemed somewhat akin to the Valley's terra in Arizona. It was a very plesant experience, and a great way to spend the day off. I read through a bit of Job...
