Only in Africa…

Transportation consists of footing, biking, boda bodas, or bikes. Maximum capacity: There is none.  4. Children are often the caregivers. 5. Children are EVERYWHERE. 6. Scrubs and Mercy

Hey everyone! I’m really sorry it’s been so long since I last blogged! I am doing so great and I’ve loved hearing everyone’s comments! I am seriously loving life in Uganda and I can’t believe we only have a few more weeks left in Lira. My new favorite outfit is African hospital scrubs! I have been going to a hospital and working with Dr. Opio. It started out as a great opportunity to watch surgeries, but then it turned into scrubbing in and assisting in surgeries. So far I’ve assisted in 2 appendectomies and a hysterectomy. I never could have imagined I...

Attention Prayer Warriors

Meet Jenna. Jenna is a precious woman in her late 60's who is a widow, a mother, a grandmother, care taker, and provider. Just one look at her and you can tell she is a fighter. She is strong, brave, hardened by life and has an incredible story to be told. I met Jenna when our team went door to door evangilizing to the community. We stopped at a group of about 6 women and just began conversing with them and asking them if they were "born agains" as they call them here and what their relationships with Jesus looks like. When Jenna was asked this question she said very...

The cry of my heart is to bring You praise

This weekend I had the privilege of singing with the praise and worship team on sunday and it was awesome! Not only to sing with them but to fellowship with them and get to know their hearts, these men and women are amazing! Their services are at 6am and 8am so we had to leave our compound at about 5:30. As we were driving I noticed tons and tons of people on the sides of the roads walking with their children to church.   Just to kind of put things in perspective for you so you can paint more of a picture, the women here carry their babies on their backs, its completely dark...

Now my soul is deeply troubled

Welcome back!      I'm sure many of you have read in other blog posts, that we (the team) have a wonderful man who works at Alpha that drives us to basically anywhere we need to go at any time regardless the circumstances.  His name is Patrick.     As I said, Patrick is a driver, he is in his late 20's and as a team we have all grown quite close to him over the past few weeks.  Patrick's father was killed by the LRA, and his mother died of sickness.  Both before he was 18 years old.  But you would never know the pain of his past if...

Patrick the golden fish

well hello there! I'm sending you warm greetings from the Pearl of Africa! But for real, it's warm and sunny today 🙂 First I'll give ya an update on some things I did this past week, then the rest of this post is dedicated to one of the good friends I've made here.  June 27th-Today at lunch hour prayer I saw little Immanuel, and he said his first word to me!–"Kope" which means, "I am fine." Then I picked him up and my friend Tony started playing music on the keyboard, and I slowdanced with Immanuel as he slowly fell asleep on me. I LOVE the...
