We finally made it!!!
Our journey started out in kampala, we arrived at about 1 in the morning and crashed after our many hours of travel time. We woke up the next morning and were waiting to have a meeting and some of us were just sitting in a circle around our rooms and a girl named Alice walked over and said "Are you born agains, because I want to accept Jesus in my life", it took us a minute to respond because all we could do was smile in disbeleif that the first time we share the gospel with someone was her coming right up and asking us to help her and tell her about our God. So after the amazement passed, we of course had her sit with us and ask any questions she had. We told Alice that she is a daughter of the most high King and so that makes her a princess, I have never seen a smile so beautiful and so big as Alices was in that moment. She accepted Christ and I got to teach her her very first "God song", as she called it. I dont think there is anywhere in this world that I would have rather been than there, sitting with my sister in Christ singing a "God song" with her and watching her take in every word. That whole experience brought the greatest joy to my heart, that is what its about, taking time out for that one who needs to hear that they are a princess and they are loved and accepted.
Friday we made the 6 hour drive to Lira, which on the way we watched a huge bird get hit by a car so our bus driver decided to turn around and grab it and cut the head off so that he could make it for dinner…this is Africa. All of you that know me well would be proud that I tried some road goat on the way, it was surprisingly really good! When we arrved at Alpha we were greeted by all the staff and Pastor Johnson with claps, shouts, hugs, handshakes, smiles, and more hugs. These people are seriously amazing, I have loved waking up to them, talking to them, doing dishes with them, and getting to love on one of the ladie's baby, shelby.
I am so excited to see all that God is going to do in weeks to come, I have no idea what that will look like but I do know that He is showing up in BIG ways and we arent even a week in. Im so thankful for all the hugs, smiles, and complete uncircumstancial JOY that these people have blessed us with in the past 5 days. God is good and I am beyond blessed.
The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn.
