A dream is a wish…

As this trip of a lifetime draws to a close, I don't have much to say simply because my thoughts are racing. I've also experienced too much these past 2 weeks to blog about all of it. I'll just tell you how I'm feeling these days. Honestly, a couple days ago I was really upset because my dream from almost 3 years ago is almost over. I felt like, "Really? This is it? It's almost over." And my brother Ben said, "you know the thing about dreams is that you dream them, you wake up and they're gone….But then you go to sleep and you dream a new dream." So now I'm ready for the next big thing God has for me 🙂 I have nooo idea what that may be, but let's just say I'm ready to go to sleep.
Some final thoughts and things I learned;
-I'm so thankful for my family. As I sat and listened to people cry as they told me how they watched their parents be killed, I couldn't help but be convicted of how I treat my family. I know the people in Lira would give ANYTHING to have their parents back, and because of that, I thank the Lord for my family.
-I'm also thankful for my home. People here have dirt floors, and they're happy to have 1 piece of furniture. I'm so so thankful for the home my parents selflessly allow me to live in.
-I'm thankful for community. This trip showed me how to love in hard times and to also simply enjoy time with other believers. I'm excited to go back to the LHU community and love them to the core.
-I'm thankful my identity is in Christ rather than in my past, relationships, my possessions, or any lies people say about me. I know the Lord's equipped me to go back to LHU and share this with other girls who have their true identity hidden.
Well, that's all I've got for now…this may be my last blog til I get home, but I'm sure I'll learn much more after relfecting on this summer from home.
As for quiet time, I've been reading Philippians and Ephesians, and what I've really been learning from that is that I need to fight for the body of believers more in prayer, encouragement, and through uplifting them. Paul was a really great example of that, so I'm excited to go home and live that out 🙂 I love ya'll and thanks for your continued support and prayers. See ya soon PA!
