4….3…..2…..1…. Finish!
Hey everyone! So this week I want to blog about 4 things because they are all standing out in my mind.
4. I will start with Easter weekend here in Lira. Friday through Sunday this week past week was a crazy busy time. It reminded me much of my church at home. We had a Good Friday service, time to chill on Saturday, then Sunday service. My team and I worked on 4 songs that we sang for the Good Friday service, such an awesome time of worship! And one of the girls painted a picture while we sang. It was a great time of worship and fellowship. I loved every minute! Then on Sunday we did the Everything skit by Life House. Praise God, the skit translated well! God truly doesn’t need interpretation. So thankful! I loved every minute of this weekend, but what I loved most was how focused this weekend was on its true purpose. The weekend was busy and fun, but despite everyone seemed to stay focused on Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection! I was so thankful for this weekend of pure praise and adoration of my Savior! Poka wrot!(Praise God!)
3. The last several weeks we have been working with a ministry in Lira called Child Restoration Outreach Ministries. They are a ministry that works with street children. They provide food during the day, a place to hang out and stay out of trouble, elementary aged classes and vocational training, and most importantly bible studies to teach them about Jesus. It has been such a blessing getting to work with these people, but even more so to build relationships with these boys and young men. God is working so much in and through these boy’s lives. They struggle and a lot of them don’t know Jesus, yet, but they are searching and asking questions. And I pray that before we leave some of the boys will come to know Jesus personally as their Savior. Please join me in prayer?
2. On Thursday a few of my teammates (Aly, Mary, and Marissa) and I visited the hospitable to pray for people. Well, Aly and I went into the therapeutic ward, the ward for malnourished children to pray and love on the kids. And our hearts were broken, but stolen at the same time. We met some of the tinniest and under nourished children I have ever seen in my life, but also some kids who were regaining strength. Moses was one of those boys. Within the first 2 minutes of being in this ward we were greeted by little Moses. He comes waddling up to us while walking on his tippy toes, with a huge grin on his face, and leans on my lap for a hug. He is maybe 4 years old, but has a personality that just makes you smile and want to hug him. Then we met Esther a beautiful young girl, 13 years old, height wise she looks her age, but weight would show her to be about 8 years old. She has HIV and her body cannot hold the nutrients her family can provide for her. Next is baby Harriet. She is a new born baby, but only weighs maybe 5 pounds. When holding her I felt like I could break her by just holding my arms too tight around her body. These are just a few of the children we met that day, but I have fallen in love. I cannot wait until I get to visit them again this Thursday. It was so amazing getting to see the Lords heart for these children as we prayed and loved on them. Jesus really does care for the hungry and broken.
Anyways, there is my 4.3.2.1. count down and I am now at the finish line! I hope you have enjoyed reading and God has in some way brought encouragement to your life today. JThere is also a four week count down of my time before I return home. Please be keeping my team and I in your prayers as we seek to finish strong our time here in Lira. God has been doing some amazing things, and He has yet to finish the work He has started. We just want to finish strong!
Love in Jesus!
