This weekend I had the privilege of singing with the praise and worship team on sunday and it was awesome! Not only to sing with them but to fellowship with them and get to know their hearts, these men and women are amazing! Their services are at 6am and 8am so we had to leave our compound at about 5:30. As we were driving I noticed tons and tons of people on the sides of the roads walking with their children to church.
Just to kind of put things in perspective for you so you can paint more of a picture, the women here carry their babies on their backs, its completely dark outside and there aren’t any street lights or anything and they start walking pretty early in order to get to church on time.
This weighed so huge on my heart, these people really want to go to church to worship Jesus and they will do anything to get there. The deepest longing in their heart is Jesus, simply because He is all they have, so if that means walking a very long distance in rain or shine, that’s just what they do. Back in the states we have every means of transportation to get to church and in most cases we can also watch online if were sick or whatever other excuse we find to stay home and even then are we really longing and desiring from the deepest parts of our heart to be at church and be in the presence of God and worship him with all that we have?
I don’t know if we as Americans can really grasp Christ being our all because of how crippled we are by our society and the things that surrounds us but I will say that I am going to try. The cry of my heart is to serve the Lord with all the joy I am capable of having, and to surrender my ALL to Him and his kingdoms cause. So lets get excited when he have the privilege to gather together in the house of the Lord and praise His name, because it is absolutely nothing short of a privilege and He deserves that.
A piece of my heart will always be with the people here in Uganda, they have taught me so much about what it means to depend on God and truly have your identity firmly planted in Him. I am forever grateful for the people here.
A few prayer requests for you all during the last few weeks that we have here…
-For my friend Emmanuel, he is 12 years old and just lost his dad but has all the faith in the world that He has a heavenly father and that the Lord has a big plan for his life
-Susan, I could write a whole blog on this incredible woman of God. Pray that God will provide for her and her sweet 10-month-old baby. Susan has to start thinking about school for Shelby and if that is even a possibility for her and that is weighing very heavily on her.
-For our team, that we would not rely on our flesh to keep us going in these last few weeks but that we would rely on our God because He is the true source of strength and He will not leave us.
