John 14:18 “ I will not leave you as orphans, but I will come to you.”
I am living out this verse while in Lira, Uganda. We have partnered with Victory Outreach Ministries, which consists of a large variety of ministries in its self. This morning we were given a list of about 25 different options for our ministry and were told to choose only 3-4. As I looked at the list I prayed for the Lord to given me clarification on where I am supposed to be on this list. The first option I listed was orphanages. As we walk the red dirt roads with children calling us “foreigner” in their language, I can’t help but think to myself Do they have parents? Are they safe at night? Does the thought of food even cross their minds? These children are everywhere. Most people when they think of Africa the thoughts of a safari, cardboard huts, or/and war. When I stand back and look around though I see beautiful people, children with so much joy to have a small meal for the day or sometimes week. I see people who want/know the power of Jesus. The children here are not concerned with whether their clothes match or how old they may be, what they eat, or where they stay. Seeing these children fills joy in my heart. Jesus is using them to give our team strength to continue to fight off tiredness. Please join us in prayer to be stretched to our limits so that Jesus may be our only source of energy.
At night during team worship time we have been sharing testimonies. After only hearing five testimonies, including my own, we have each felt conviction and our eyes are being reopened to Jesus in a new way. Tears have been shed, but we are learning how to encourage each other to seek out Biblical manhood and womanhood. We as women are learning to encourage our men to be warriors for Jesus and us. They are learning to serve and love us. We give PRAISE to Jesus for this.
Thank you for your prayers and please to join us in the power of prayer as we go out tomorrow and seek these different ministries. My mission statement for this time here comes from John 3:30, Romans 1:16, Psalm 71 and Isaiah 61. To YOU be the GLORY and Kingdom MAGIFIED forever.
