I Won’t Back Down

One of the many things to do as a Christian, is just do what you are called to do. Sometimes Satan will, try to stop you but you need to persevere through that, and continue what the Lord called you to. This past Sunday, I did just that.      For the longest time, God has been telling me to sing in church. I prayed about this, because, speaking, much less singing in church, is not something I’m extremely comfortable with. God told me I need to speak with Pastor Johnson, our ministry contact, about it. I found him outside his home and talked to him about it, and he got very...

Good Ol’ Fashion Ministry

I can’t stress this enough, “What an awesome God we serve!!!!!!!”Just knowing his love and what I need to be doing to be a servant for him is inflaming my soul. Wow, God is so awesome.       Tuesday morning, we decided we were just going to ask the Lord, or ATL as we call it, to decide what we will do for morning ministry. We prayed and God told us each something different, so we separated. God told me to go do some good ol’ fashion street ministry in an ally that we always feel uncomfortable going in. I was a little frightened by this, but I prayed for...

Footing: The Way The World Transports

Satan is afraid of us.  How do we know?  Well, partly because Christ lives in all of us, and partly because he has broken three cars we have used for transportation.  That’s right, three cars.  The first vehicular victim was the Alpha van.   One day, long, long ago, the team was traveling home after a fun day of ministry when the Alpha van put-putted to a stop.  “What happened?” we asked our driver.  “The fuel,” he responds, looking at the fuel gauge, “it is not there.”  After several futile attempts at...

Stella’s Joy

I am daily astonished by the people we have met here Uganda.  Monday this week was an amazing day for us as a team, because we got so much encouragement from the Ugandans we have met and been ministering to. I’ve already told you about Quinto and how his dream had come true, but I have yet to tell you about Stella and how God is working with her. Stella is a woman we met during our first week in Uganda.  One morning, we decided to go on a prayer walk.  While we were on our prayer walk, God kept telling us which direction to go, and who to pray for as we passed...

All I Want is to be Clean!!!

On Monday we decided we were going to spend the day serving the Alpha Resort Hotel staff (Alpha is our home here in Uganda). After asking the Lord what that looked like we split off to serve. One of the services us girls felt we were to do was help the African ladies do laundry. We found out that we were doing it wrong, so the ladies taught we the right way. It's kind of hard to explain how they do it, so please ask me how when I get home and I'll show/tell you. Anyway, the whole time God kept reminding me of a passage in Isaiah that says: "Wash and make yourselves...

Prayer

Prayer is powerful.  This is something our team has come to realize more and more with each passing day.  We now spend a lot of time together praying about … well, everything.  We have seen how much you really can do through praying.  We have seen our teammates emotionally healed from past pain and regrets; we have seen eleven men come to Jesus in the same hour all because we prayed for it; and little boys cured of malaria.   Every week we visit the regional referral hospital.  During that time, we find out what some of the patients have been struggling...
