Dear Mister Waldo

Dear Mister Waldo- Thank you for all your hard work. You have served us well but we kindly request you to retire. Lets face it… you are not as young as you used to be. We understand that its not your fault but we would really like to not be stranded somewhere for hours because you need to catch a breather. We have had good moments but as time goes on there are some not so good ones mixed in there. Like pushing you to get you started, standing on the side of the street waiting for you to wake up, or not being able to go somewhere because you were not feeling up to it. We love...

Where’s Waldo

Remember the fun books we had as kids where we had to find Waldo among the crowd of random people and objects? Well that has nothing to do with what this blog is about, except the fact of what we have named Waldo. We have a van here in Lira, that’s used to transport us from all our different ministries that we have cleverly named Waldo. Why Waldo, you might ask. Well you see, we are constantly asking “Where’s Waldo?” or “Where’s Patrick?” (Our driver.) We usually have about a 10-20 minute wait, and then the fun begins. We all pile in the van to head...

Real Intimacy

God’s love is powerful, very powerful. Its why Jesus died on the cross. Its why he gave all who believe, the gift of eternal life. It is also what empowers a righteous heart. His intimacy is what a christian truly needs to persevere. Well, I have a confession to make, for years I have seeking love in all the wrong places, but this past weekend that all changed. I’m free from that junk that shouldn’t have been filling my heart. I now only feel Gods love and his love. That also means, sorry ladies, but the Craigadeth is only dating God for a year. I truly need to experience...

Baby Boldness

Babies…man oh man do I love me some babies. Every job I’ve had has been with kids, and even when I’m not at work, you can usually find me around some kids. I’ve realized here in Uganda, I have a baby obsession. Ok, I didn’t realize it here, I’ve always known it, but I guess you can call it more of a baby boldness. Let me explain. Being black in Africa is amazing, especially when it comes to babies. Some babies here are terrified of “monos” (White/American people) because they’ve never seen one. We were informed of...

A convo with God

Me: Hey dad, I love you. So much. Have your way with my future. I want whatever you want. God: Hmmm I love you too. About your future… what do you want, Kayla? Me: Um, I don't think you are allowed to ask me that. You are supposed to tell me what to do and then I obey. God: haha, what do you want my daughter? Me: To go on the World Race. I have wanted to go for years. God: Ok. Me: Ok? God: Yep. It's yours. I have some things I want to teach and show you. The World Race would be a good place for you to be while I do that. Me: Really? Wow. Ok. Really? I...

Boredom does things to you

Boredom will get you here in Africa. I can’t tell you how many times I thought I was going to go crazy from the simple fact that I was bored. There are days when it feels like hours have gone by and it’s actually only been a couple of minutes. Since there is so much boredom, we have to come up with things to kill the time. Boredom=Creativity, so here’s a few of the games we have come up with.   “Hey Goat” Game: So with this game, you’re trying to get an animal to look at you after you yell at it. So when we are walking or driving and we spot an...
