Is this real life?! Is this going to be forever?!

If you know anything about me, you know I LOVE to laugh. I love to laugh at myself and I love to laugh at other people. I just love to laugh. One video that makes me laugh is called "David After Dentist". If you haven't seen in I recommend you go to youtube and watch it. If you're anything like me, you'll get a good chuckle out of it. My favorite line in "David After Dentist" is when David asks "Is this real life? Is this going to be forever?". This week I found myself asking JUST that. 1." Is this real life?!" Who gets to leave school,...

Much of You

I've been struggling with what to write about today. Not normal for me. I love to blog, and ask any of my teammates, I always have something to say! So I've been procrastinating. I've talked to family, friends, and even taken care of business for back home. The whole day has felt very me-centered. There was finally a point a couple of hours ago where I just stopped what I was doing and looked out the open 3rd floor window. I took a second to just breathe. And that's when God hit me. I realized how much I rely on high speed connections in my life back home. I'm...

Week 2

Week 2 in Uganda.  One thing that God has been placing on my heart this week is the concept of dependence upon him.  In my day to day life in America it can be easy to forget that I  need God.  As I go to work or school I feel well equipped to handle the challenges that I face – it seems that I could get by on my own talent or resourcefulness.  As I go throughout my day I may be conscious of God, but sometimes I treat him more as an accessory than a necessity.  In Uganda,, however, I am realizing how truly dependent upon God I am.  Earlier this week...

Life in Lira, Uganda

Greetings Americans, life in Lira has been very interesting and impacting so far. I would like to share with you a few people that me and my team have met and a little bit about them. I would first like to share with you about Pastor Johnson and his wife Betty. They are our contacts here in Lira. They are some of the sweetest and most kind people I have ever met and they actually celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary last night! Their love for God and their neighbors around them is incredible! They lead Victory Outreach Church here and have multiple ministries that serve a ton of...

Abducted

Well.. This is Africa (TIA as we like to say): Fitting 13 people in a 4 person vehicle Seeing  baboons on the street Getting laughed and pointed at because you are white eating lots of bananas and pineapple (I don't mind) Having absoluetly no concept of time (also love) And looking like a fool as you try to speak LUO (their language, or one of their languages) Those are just a few highlights of what Africa is like. It is such a beautiful place with so many wonderful people! We have no been here for about a week and I am truly enjoying my time. We...

I Cannot Tell It All

It's ridiculous to think that we've only been in Uganda for 9 days. It feels like we've been here for at least a month. I have upwards of fifty different things/stories I could blog about! Ah…no pressure. I absolutely love it here. I expected to really enjoy it, but I'm blown away. The people are so beautiful and welcoming. Pastor Johnson from Victory Outreach Ministries is an incredible man… I could sit and listen to him talk all day. He knows Jesus intimately and is overflowing with wisdom. He has seen more hardship and struggle than most of us will never even...
