No Fear Response

Wow. If training camp could be summed up in such an inadequate word, it would definitely be that one. I came with certain expectations of what God would do on this trip, that I didn’t even realize I had. I expected to meet awesome people, have a great time, and watch God move. What I wasn’t prepared for was the magnitude at which God was going to rock us, even before we left the country. I expected to be stretched challenged, and to grow in the Lord. All of these things have happened, as we have practiced eating smaller portions of certain ethnic foods, eating with our hands...

The Beginning of an Adventure

Hey everyone, it’s David.  This is my blog where I will be telling you all about the great things that God is doing in Uganda. This one is kind of on the fly so it will be short.  Right now we are at the Adventures In Missions training center in Georgia.  But we did not come straight here from the airport. We spent our first night, Friday night, in Atlanta Georgia. That night before bed we went out on the streets of Atlanta to find people and speak to them. We each got a dollar to spend on someone. That night was very powerful and I feel we really were able to help some...

The Breaking of Expectations!

Since landing in Atlanta 5 days ago there has been a constant breaking down of expectations on our part as a team. This comes in the form of what we expected to do and how we expected to experience God on this trip. But the reality is that God is unique and likes to mix it up a bit. We came into Atlanta expecting to get right on buses to travel to training camp, but the reality is that we actually traveled to the Safe House where we ended up on the streets sharing the Good News to homeless and other individuals that we found. This was our first opportunity as a team to embrace the...

A beautiful picture

Hey everyone! So, we’ve only been away from home for a couple days, and I think I can say that God has already taught me what I needed the most, that I am part of a team that loves the Lord and loves Africa just as much as I do. We all love Him the same, but love Him in different ways, and I think that’s what makes it beautiful, we all are bringing different things to the trip and when put together I think it just paints a beautiful picture (:  Everyone is going to be put in difficult situations that their not used to over the next couple of months, but I honestly believe...

Expectations

Training camp has been a really awesome experience. I can’t believe it’s over and I am so looking forward to the rest of the summer! I don’t know exactly what my expectations for this trip were before I came here, but I do know this: I am expecting God to show up in Uganda. He has been so present here and I am filled with hope about what the coming months will bring. I am expecting to be changed by Him as he impacts people through me. These are my big expectations, and I am fully trusting that they will be met. All the rest is details.  Luke 12:22-25:...

Not So Homeless

Hey All!!   I’m so thrilled that I’ll have a chance to keep you updated over the course of the trip! We officially leave for the airport at 11am today after completing a mind-blowing training camp. Our leaders suggested we should pick specific experiences to describe rather than giving you all a play-by-play of our days (even though I know you definitely care what time I brushed my teeth this morning) so here goes!:   I think until this week, I never really understood the importance of homeless shelters. I would occasionally volunteer at a local shelter in high school...
