This is life in Africa!

Well the last couple of weeks have been really good! Just thought I’d give an update on what we did they have looked like and how things are going.

We performed a love song medley and did a dance at our Friend’s Sam & Doreen’s wedding. Only in Africa, would this happen haha.. And there is a wedding this upcoming Saturday, and they asked us to do a song and a dance too! Just call us the wedding singers!

Esther is doing ok.. She still needs prayers, so keep on praying! Her weight has not increased much and she is not really eating much food at all. Her chest is hurting her a lot she says.. I’ve been visiting her several times a week though, and we usually read Bible Stories and color, and I think she enjoys it a lot! It’s good to see her have some joy even when she is suffering so much.

We have been going to a two ministries for Street Children. One is called Child Restoration Outreach and the other is Atin Africa.. At CRO, there is a tailoring class for some of the older girls who are not in school. I have been hanging out with those girls and I was even able to teach them how to make a purse, which they loved. So it has been a lot of fun working with them!

At Atin Africa, the children are able to sleep there until they can get them resettled with their families. You never go to Atin Africa without feeling loved, as soon as you enter the doors, all the children yell “Auntie, Auntie”, and come up and hug you. It’s so sweet! We even got to have a pool party with the kids on Sunday Afternoon which was so much fun. They also have a pet monkey named Rosta at Atin, which of course makes me sooo happy!!

On Saturday we went to the Otino Waa Children’s Village. This is an orphanage started by a couple from Oregon. This place is seriously amazing! It is a beautiful place and I have never seen an orphanage so nice. They have their own school which is one of the best schools in the area. There are 4 circles of homes at the village and each circle has 8 houses. Each house has 8 children and a house mom, most of whom are widows. If you are looking to sponsor a child, I would highly recommend Otino-Waa, you would know that your child you are sponsoring is in great hands. Check them out at: www.pathministries.net and click on Otino-Waa.

Monday Evening we did an outreach at VOC north (Tessobar). This is one of the other campuses of Victory Outreach. We performed our drama, our dance, and did some worship songs and a sermon as well. It went pretty well. Mostly it was a lot of children there, because there are so many children in Tessobar. I know the few people we talked to though said they really liked what was said, and that the drama really ministered to them.

So overall we have been really busy but things are going very well. We only have a week and a half in Lira left before we head to Jinja for a few days. It will be sad to say goodbye!

PRAYER REQUEST: On Sunday, we heard a loud boom nearby our hotel and later found out that a 13-year-old girl stepped on a landmine. They believe the landmine was probably planted by the LRA years ago. The girl did not survive, so please be praying for her family.

That is all for now, love you and miss you all! God Bless!
