Ok so my blog doesn't actually have to do with this pig, but a family did name their pig after me!
This week I started working with compassion international. It's been a really good experience. I don't know about you guys, but when I see adds for child sponsor programs I get really depressed. You see videos of hungry, sad children with some sad song in the background. If I'm being honest, that's when I usually change the channel. Now don't get my wring, that is the reality of the situation. These kids are hungry, they are lost, and they are looking for love. But what these adds don't show you is what JOY is brought through organizations like compassion. I get to work with these kids each week and it's amazing to see the difference between kids who are sponsored and the kids I've met who aren't. By sponsoring a child you are not just giving them food, supplies, and schooling; you're giving them hope. Through compassion these kids are given hope and a future. They're taught that their value doesn't come from material possessions, but from the way God sees them! I've completely fallen in love with these kids and I can't wait to see those relationships grow and see God move in this place. If you aren't sponsoring a child, I strongly urge you to! It's amazing how far a little can go. You can change a child's entire life through this one little choice. Sure you're providing more opportunities for these kids, but more importantly you're giving them a venue in which to hear the gospel and to find grow in God's love! I pray that God is giving you joys in your week as He is in mine via compassion. Until next time folks!
