The Storm

Darkness hovering over me.
Lightning illuminating the depths of the clouds.
Bats being enticed by the gloom,
Flying into the abyss to get a closer look.
Should I fear what I see?
Should I fear the shadows lurking all around me?

I stare into the face of the storm, and I see beauty.
I see hands that created such splendor.
The lightning shows me Glory sitting on a throne,
looking down on me with love-sick eyes.
He is a safe place…a refuge.

In the midst of adversity, my heart beats uncontrollably for the King.
Darkness has no hold on me.
Instead I choose the heart of my Lover.
May I sweeten His soul with the candy of my singing.
I dare to enter the Throne Room with my fragrance of praise.
Does it please you my Lord?

For You alone are worthy.
Shall I only accept prosperity from you?
Is that why You died for me, so I can keep taking from Your hand?
I worship You in calamity.
I trust you in the midst of chaos.

You are all that satisfies me.
You are My Comforter, My ever-present help in danger.
I will call on Your name for Your ear is inclined to the voice of Your bride.
I break the alabaster box of my heart,
and may the sound kiss Your soul.
