Towards the beginning of this trip, I met a 16 year old girl named Evaline. She and two of her sisters own a tiny hair salon in Lira.
As I spent some time with Eva, I came to know here story. At age seven she lost her mother, and at age twelve, she became an orphan when her father died. Until recently, she lived in an orphanage, and now she lives with some of her sisters.
What is so touching and encouraging to me is not the fact that she is an orphan who is persevering to support herself and her sisters, but that she is so hungry for the Word of God. Eva told us that she had been praying for someone to come into her life to teacher her more about God, and we answered her prayers.
Brittany, Casey, and I have been going to visit Eva twice a week at her salon. We have studied the Bible together, worshipped and prayed together, and just talked together. One day she told us, "I want to go and share the Word of God like you do." This encouraged me so much. It hit me that God really does use ordinary people to share His Word. He has entrusted us, His sons and daughters, with His Gospel. It was so encouraging to know that God has allowed me to play a part in making a disciple for Him, who will become a disciple-maker. And I fully believe that Evaline will also share the hope of Jesus with others who are waiting and praying for her to come.
