The cars rush past, I am terrified I will get hit by one. But my Ugandan friend assures me that I will not get hit, im not sure I believe him. This is the life in the big city of Kampala. It is very similar to any of the other large cities around the world except that they are speaking in Luganda and the driving is ALOT more crazy. It has such a feeling of adventure and livliness. Here you can find hamburger restaurants and knock-off watches. But not only that, but it has the feel of fast paced life with people rushing to and from work in suits.
This is largely a contrast to the life that we experienced last week in a small town outside of Kabale. This location was very rural with alot of cows and goats roaming the streets and agriculature everywhere. This location has very small homes but their hearts are not anywhere close to being small. They are some of the warmest and most generous individuals. They have not only a warmness but also a strength that you do not see many places. They work in their hillside farms from sun-up to sun-down, seven days a week. They carry jugs of water on their head up and down hills. They are a strong people. They brave the cold(not really all that cold, but for Africans it is) and the crazy amounts of dust just to make it home. My heart goes out for these people who were in locations that are barely reached by road. A few we reached by having to travel in our cattle truck down roads that were barely wide enough for cars.
This contrast is so crazy when you can see that one country can be so completly different from one place to another. The lives are opposite, Kampala being very hectic and complex while the rural town outside Kabale is more simple and beautiful. We are so blessed to get to experience all the sides that this beautiful country of Uganda has to offer.
GOD BLESS AND HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!
