Everything is super fun in Uganda. At training camp, every morning we had this thing called “super fun morning time” where we would do super fun things like dance routines to help wake us up. Our team rocked at it, so of course we incorporated the term into just about everything we’ve been doing here in Uganda. Things like “super fun nap time”, “super fun story time”, “super fun Jesus time”, “super fun dart game” and so on.
(Super fun dart game plays a big part in this so let me explain what that is. The dart game is where someone calls a friends name at the prime time. The person whose name was called turns around, and at that time, the person that called them blows an air dart at them. The person that was hit falls to the floor and waits to be saved by someone.)
Back to our list of super fun things. Well, we added a new one to the list: super fun swimming time. See, we’re in Uganda during rainy season which means it rains quite a bit here, primarily though, at night. Where we are staying has a courtyard that is raised all around with a big palm tree in the middle. It started raining one night and the courtyard started to fill cause the drain got clogged. We decided to have a super fun dance party in the rain because that just seemed to be the right thing to do (and Kayla and I started singing “Singing in the Rain while prancing around the courtyard).
Well, I randomly got the brilliant idea of darting someone while we were standing in the courtyard. I looked around and spotted my subject, Kayla, our team girl leader. I wasn’t sure if she would do it or not, but I decided to go for it. So I called her name, darted her, and watched as she weighed her options. Being the awesome leader that she is, she decided to go for it and fall into the water. Once she was saved, she retaliated by splashing so much water on me, I was soaked as well, so why not just lay and play in the water. One by one, our other teammates came out to see what was going on and join our spontaneous swimming party. Epic doesn’t even begin to describe that moment. So I leave you with this short clip of our party. It all stared with a dart.Everything is super fun in Uganda.
