Sharing Hope

We have finished a full week of ministry and God has broken my heart for the beautiful people of Uganda. Some of the work we did this week includes building a mud goat shed, cleaning a well, and leading Bible Studies on Thursday evenings. Coming on this trip I thought I was prepared to face the poverty, orphans, and hopeless that people here encounter daily, I expected my heart to break instantly, but God had other plans. It took a week for my heart to break. This week we did door to door evangelism and at the third house we stopped at, God filled me with compassion and broke my heart. After seeing homes with dirt floors, and sick orphans, something in my heart shattered when I met this woman as I sat on the floor of her home, talking with her about her life. Her husband is not a Christian and had led her away from the Lord and her sick child sat in her arms as I was able to share with her the love of Jesus. She has tried many different religions looking for hope and I was excited to share with her where my hope comes from- Jesus. Meeting this lady has spurred my love for people who have lost hope. I am excited to share with everyone I encounter how a relationship with God leads to hope and joy, because we know that He has already won and we will be spending eternity with Him!

1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. [Romans 5]
