Realization

I never realized how much the phrase ‘it changed my life’ actually meant until I look back on the past week I spent in a village called Kyampisi.

It was a life changing week.

Two things in particular I want to share.
Number one being my new love, Allan. Allan is the true meaning of miracle. When I looked at this 7 year old boy I could think of nothing but the love the Lord has for all of His children. A year ago, Allan had been attacked as an attempted child sacrifice. Child sacrifice is still an epidemic in Uganda- even though it sounds like something from the Stone Age. Witch doctors tell people that if they sacrifice a child, or bring him back a part of their body.. something good will happen to them such as prosperity in a business or healing of sickness. Allan was attacked at the age of 6 after coming home from school one day. He was stabbed in the neck, castrated, and an axe went into the side of his skull. He was found whimpering in a puddle of his own blood left for dead. This is a reality that happens way too often here. However, Allan survived, and serves as a true testament of God’s unfailing love. I completely fell head over heels in love with Allan this week.  I would come back to the ministry after a days work and he would be ready to sit beside me and talk in a language I know nothing about. His smile melted my heart and his songs in English that he repeated for me over and over again were precious. The day we met, God put on my heart that I would sponsor him. I immediately spoke with Jodie, and we decided to go in it together. So now I have the honor of sponsoring a child with the biggest heart I’ve ever encountered, and a story that I will be sharing until this sort of crime completely stops . He is having surgery on his skull this Wednesday. After the attack, they closed it with tissue, but his brain is still exposed so they are going in to put plastic or some other material to close it back up. Please please please keep this little boy in your prayers.  www.kyampisi.org/News/

Now to tell you all about the ministry. Kyampisi Childcare Ministry (KCM) is a ministry completely on fire for God. They listen to His word, and act accordingly.  The people in this ministry have hearts striving to seek the Lord’s glory in everything they do. Every project is completed with the assurance that God allowed it to happen, and not their own strength. The next thing they are about to launch is the End Child Sacrifice Campaign. I pray that the thought of child sacrifice makes you sick to your stomach, I pray that God puts a passion inside of you to end this just as He has me. I pray that you will have the most heavy burden on your heart to pray for this ministry, and its campaign. Child sacrifice must end.

Sorry this is such a super long blog, it was just the most amazing week here in Africa. By the way for those who are hearing about the bombing here in Kampala.. the team is completely safe. Just pray for the families of the people in the bombing.. pray they realize that the only true peace they will receive will come from God.

I love all of you so much!
Katie
