Been a pretty good week!
Let's see. Jordan killed my duck. See his blog for the gruesome details.
I feel like it has kind of been a week of ridiculousness. For instance, Mary and me being able to scrub into surgery whenever we want to. Or the fact that we presented a dance to a Christian rap song at a wedding. Not only that, but I did a backbend in this particular number. The fact that I haven't taken gymnastics since I was 10 didn't seem to matter, so that was a plus. I also wrote a song/rap with my dear friend innocent who is under the impression that we are going to be professionally recording it on Sunday.
Something I've been working on a lot the past few weeks is this art project we planned with Happy Time Primary and Nursery school. There will definitely be pictures and what not about that soon, but yesterday we were finally able to take everything to the school and have the kids add to it. Which is kind of just another reminder that everything is wrapping up here. Many, many thoughts on that…but I have a few more weeks to blog about that.
One thing that has been cool here is just the opportunities I've had to do art and use it for some purpose. Because art was always something I liked and had been told I had some sort of talent for, and it always confused me because I'm going into a science field…nothing close to art. I didn't really get why God would give me certain talents if I wasn't going to use them. The second that I told my team that, they came up with about a hundred different ways I could use art here. From designing all of their tattoos, to painting a picture for Good Friday in front of the whole church, to an attempt to help a school here that is in so much debt that they don't know what to do. It's just awesome seeing God use the way he's designed me for a purpose. Multiple purposes, and ones that sometimes don't even seem very big to me. It's incredible to see the team he's placed me with calling those things out of me. It's actually just incredible to be with this team at all. I don't think I've blogged much about them, but they're great and I've had to lean on them so hard at times and gone through the insane with them. I've chased thieves in the middle of the night , gone into surgery, carried people to the hospital, named babies, gutted fish, talked to abducted child soldiers, freaked out at the site of them fainting, laughed, cried, and prayed with these people for the past 3 months, so I guess if one of them accidentally steps on and kills my pet, I can forgive them because all in all, these people have been my family for these 4 months and are going to be the only ones who can really understand everything when I get back home.
