Uganda, Africa edition!
In America, I’ve never done any of these things. But in Africa, this is normal living!
-
Started all my mornings at around 6:30 a.m. That’s what living in a room full of 4 girls will do to you.
-
Taken freezing cold showers.
-
Eaten only a couple of different meals on repeat.
-
Heard someone say, “I’m coming!” and then they show up 5 hours later.
-
Been in a place where it rains at least 5 times a week.
-
Greeted someone with “hello!” and they respond, “I’m fine!”
-
Become friends with everyone accidently from visiting there too much. Like the supermarket.
-
Paid so much money for Pringles because it’s the only American food here.
-
Seen the supermarket sold out of peanut butter because your team bought all of it.
-
Put 11 people in a 6 person car. The record is 16, holla!
-
Eaten dinner at 8:45 one night, and 5:00 the next night.
-
Been so ripped off when trying to buy things because I’m white.
-
Have kids try to peel my nail polish off. So painful.
-
Been a surgeon, a painter, a teacher, and a preacher.
-
Gone days without showering.
-
Had a school of children follow me while I’m walking and singing.
-
Had those children copy my dance moves and now they do them when they see me.
-
Wrote a comment in a book that was published. Usually really important people do that, but in this case I got to do it because I was white.
-
Learned an African Language
-
Got so excited seeing another mzungu(white person)
-
Not ever known if it’s dirt or a tan line.
-
Met people more generous than Africans. They make you take the chair they were sitting in, and they sit on the ground.
-
Seen kittens be born!
-
Seen a sky so big.
-
Eaten ants in my food. Happens on the daily.
-
Saw giraffes and zebras chillin in their natural home!
-
Touched and hung out with baby elephants.
-
Eaten with my hands.
-
Not had cold drinks for such a long period of time.
-
Been so tan.
-
Felt so close to the Lord
We have 5 weeks left. Holy heck. Time is flying by. Africa is blowing my mind daily. A common quote that our team says is, “My life is a joke.” Literally. Some days I crack up at my life. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks everyone for the prayers! Keep em comin'!
