I ate snot!

Ok not really.. but there is a thing (yes i will call it a thing), called boyo.. It of has the texture of snot, smells sort of similar to peanut butter, looks like spinach and snot, and the taste is just not the greatest. We usually eat it (or swallow quickly without tasting it too much) with sweet potatoes, or posha, which is corn mashed up to a potato like consistency. We get this meal once a twice a week at the church, and it is our favorite meal (insert slight sarcasm here)!
But overall, food wise, we are beyond blessed!! Our hotel feeds us AMAZING breakfasts and dinners, and on our day off, we go to Sankofas, and eat pizza and milkshakes.. so no complaining here!! We are super blessed!
So off the topic of food, things are going very well! We got to experience our first African Health Clinic as we all got tested for Malaria.. We were all freaking out because we didn't know how a blood draw would work here. Lucky me, I had to go first!! Thankfully though it was just a little finger prick, and the good news is, we are all Malaria Free!!
We did a valentines day outreach yesterday(I don't think a lot of people know what valentines day is here, or really care about it, but we thought it would be a good way to show some ladies we loved them and Jesus loves them)! We got some fake flowers, decorated some valentines, and handed them out to ladies on the streets, and ladies in the hospital. The hospital is definitaly a dark and heavy place here. There is a lot of hopelessness there and it's very hard for me to go and not feel pretty discouraged afterwards. It was a blessing though to be able to see a smile on a few ladies faces as we gave them their flower and prayed for them.
Doing a Bible Study with the high school girls has been a huge encouragement to me! This week we only had 3 girls come, but it went really well. I told them the story of Hannah, and they were very open to share stories of how they have had to wait on God to answer prayers. It was great to finally go deeper with people here, which is often very hard because of the language barriers. These young ladies are just so bright and love the Lord so much. I think they encourage me more than I encourage them, but I look forward to our future studies and growing in friendships with them!
We have been in Africa for a month now which is just crazy! I'm loving being here but really missing home at the same time. I know that God has me here for a purpose though, and I'm loving growing closer to him, and building relationships with my team! Thanks for all the prayers, God Bless 🙂
