The Lyrics “Jesus come take us to the foot of the cross where we have been bought. Now freedom is ours, we take it up! We take it up!” repeated over and over and over in my head and on my lips for the entirety of a 40 minute run I went on last week. I wasn’t even sure where I had heard this song and why it was so stuck in my head. I knew this song that had hijacked my mind was speaking to my heart in some way, though I couldn’t see clearly any new significance.
In the next few days our team had some discussions about deliverance and freedom, specifically in our minds. As I observed other teammates being freed I was completely unaware of the bonds that were holding on to me. On Thursday evening I had a few hours to myself with my Lord.
It was one of the most powerful and life changing few hours I spent with the Lord. The Lord pulled out some places in my heart that were not aligned with the truth of his word, places that were bond up by lies, and He showed me the truth. It was amazing! During this time the song came back into my head full force.
Jesus come take us to the foot of the cross where we have been bought! Now freedom is ours! we take it up! We take it up!
Jesus bought us at the cross. His work there set us free. We do not have to live any longer hindered by anything. Satan has no right to bind you and keep you from running after God with all that you have. The catch is that it is not always as obvious as big clanky chains hanging around your neck. Instead they are often disguised, so much so that we have a hard time seeing them. For me they were ways of thinking that had no foundation in the word of God and were affecting me in a negative way. I had no idea they were there until in a quiet time I was asking Him to pull out any spots in me that made it hard for His reflection to be seen in me. God kind of just smacked me over the head with a conviction about certain beliefs I had.
I would like to challenge all of you to search your thoughts and your life. Identify the things that are not from God. Then tell them to get lost and that they have no place in you and then fill the void they left with the truth of Gods words.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free!”
