Realization

I never realized how much the phrase ‘it changed my life’ actually meant until I look back on the past week I spent in a village called Kyampisi.    It was a life changing week.   Two things in particular I want to share. Number one being my new love, Allan. Allan is the true meaning of miracle. When I looked at this 7 year old boy I could think of nothing but the love the Lord has for all of His children. A year ago, Allan had been attacked as an attempted child sacrifice. Child sacrifice is still an epidemic in Uganda- even though it sounds like something...

God does wonders.

Hey everyone.  The past week has been an amazing time of seeing Gods power in my life and the lives of others.  We started off the week by heading to Kyampisi a community about one hour east of Kampala.  When we got there we stayed at a place called Jesus house.  Their we met a team of amazing people who love God and love people.  I had so much fun with the people there doing things for God and for the people in the area.  The first day we got there we got settled into Jesus house and got to go see the area we would be working in.  We met a couple people...

A Pride of…Lambs?

"Let love explode and bring the dead to life! My God's not dead! He's surely alive and He's lively on the inside roaring like a lion!" – David Crowder The newly blue school building stands as a lamb perched in a society of lions. Friday night Pauline, who has been helping take care of us at Jesus House, gave us an Egyptian saying to put God's leadership into perspective. "An army of lions led by a lamb can be defeated by an army of lambs led by a lion." Those here at Kyampisi Child Care and Ministry are lambs led by THE Lion of Judah against an...

Have you ever had an experience that words can not even come close to explaining? As you read this, please remember that I am completely overwhelmed trying to explain to you in this short blog about my experiences this past week in Kyampisi! We worked with an organization called Kyampisi Childcare Ministries (KCM) and our whole team fell completely in love- everything about this village and ministry has completely captured my heart. As I left this morning, it was painful, because I was leaving a part of my heart with these people! Everything we did from cleaning out wells to painting the...

Warrior Hearts

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the Ugandan people since I’ve been here, it’s that they are strong, in every way it’s possible to be strong. It’s not at all uncommon to see 5-year-old lugging around their one-year-old siblings on their backs or hips like they’re feather-light. Women carry enormous baskets of bananas and pineapples on their heads, hands-free, without breaking a sweat. We drink the water or eat the lettuce and we’re in bed for three days; they get malaria on a regular basis, like it’s the common cold, and...

Serpha and Zebera

SORRY!!!!  I have been absolutely terrible about this whole blogging thing.. whoops 🙂   There’s just no good way to sum up the last 4? weeks.  (Is that how long we’ve been here?  We’ve completely lost track)  It’s been an incredible roller coaster of God pulling us out of our comfort zones, us adjusting and getting comfortable there, and Him pulling us out again.  It’s been awesome!  This last week we got the opportunity to work with a team from Portland who was here doing a crusade.  The way things worked I only got...
