8. zebras, elephants, & bus rides, oh my.

Wow, so much has happened since I last updated. I figured I’d share a little of our adventure to Nairobi, Kenya. We stayed in Kenya for about a week for a midpoint debrief. We met up with the Kenya and Expedition teams and a few AIM staff. It was such an amazing time!

Some highlights:
-eating American food at Java House! Eating salad trumped having a burger. I’ve missed having fresh vegetables.
-having frozen yogurt at the mall
-hot showers every day!
-being cold and able to wear jeans and a hoodie for once
-going to an elephant orphanage and seeing baby elephants up close
-going to a market and putting on my feisty pants to bargain for good deals (without coupons!)
-on our bus ride back we got to travel through the Rift Valley and see zebras on the side of the road
-African bus rides in general (thankfully not for 31 hours this time)

But besides all the exciting things, I enjoyed taking time for worship, prayer and encouraging sessions with everyone. My team was in a bit of a rut before we left but midpoint gave us a fresh perspective on our trip. We came back to Lira encouraged and refreshed, ready to pursue whatever came our way. For me personally the past two months have been a bit of a rollercoaster but I have grown a lot. I’ve had time to work on things that I haven’t dealt with at home, especially my relationship with the Lord.  I’ve had time to process through a lot and find healing and growth through that. It’s been difficult but so good at the same time.

In other news…
-I got my first boda (motorbike) ride the other day. It was super awesome and I totally want to do it again.
-I almost had to eat fish heads yesterday.
-We taught the staff here how to make grilled cheese.
-We are going on a safari next week!

Thanks again for all of your continued prayers and support!
