Where’s Waldo

Remember the fun books we had as kids where we had to find Waldo among the crowd of random people and objects? Well that has nothing to do with what this blog is about, except the fact of what we have named Waldo. We have a van here in Lira, that’s used to transport us from all our different ministries that we have cleverly named Waldo. Why Waldo, you might ask. Well you see, we are constantly asking “Where’s Waldo?” or “Where’s Patrick?” (Our driver.) We usually have about a 10-20 minute wait, and then the fun begins. We all pile in the van to head home from ministry, get about 5-10 minutes into our drive, before the noise/smells/stalling starts and we’re stuck for a good 30 minutes (at least). For goodness sake nothing on the dashboard works…not the gas gauge, the speedometer, RPM’s or the battery meter. Our boys have gotten so much more muscle from the countless times they were asked to help push Waldo because he needed a “a shove of encouragement.”  Poor Waldo is way past his time, but magically seems to also be “repairable” to the best of the mechanics ability. Somehow, they always get him “running” again, but if I’m honest…fixing Waldo is like playing Russian roulette and praying there really isn’t a bullet in the gun.

The people here at Alpha desperately need a new van. That’s where we all come in. We have been given the amazing opportunity to reach out to our communities and try to get a new van for Alpha. We have set up a ministry fund, where people will be able to donate towards the cost for a new van. The total cost for a new van here in Uganda is about $10,000 USD, which is why 8 college-aged students need your help. We would love it if you could help us fund this cost. All funding will end December 8th, 2011. If you want to donate, you can do so by donating online or mailing a check to AIM. Donating ways are below. Thanks so much for helping us help Alpha.

Donors can give online this way:
Go to Uganda Ministry Project Fund

If a Donor wants to give by check they can make checks payable to
Adventures in Missions with the accounting code 11RL0902UGMP in the
memo line. Make sure they know NOT to put a person’s name in with the
check because if they do then the check will most likely be applied to
the wrong project. Checks should be mailed to Adventures in Missions,
PO Box 534470, Gainesville, GA 30353-4470.
