Have you ever wondered what God's holiness looks like? A few days ago, when the team was spending some time in worship, I started to wonder what kind of weight "holy" holds, and what it looks like. Is Jesus' holiness only prominent when He speaks? Does He let His holiness shine when He looks at you with love? Does He let it show when He is forgiving you of your sins? What does "holy" look like? When we were worshipping the question became so heavy on my mind, so I asked God to show me what His holiness looks like.
Immediately after I asked God to show me, He sent Jesus to me in a vision. With my eyes closed I saw the Son of God in all His holiness and glory. Jesus stood before me with radiant light all around Him. That's the only physical descriptor I can give you, because that's all I saw, but I felt a lot more than I saw.
You know when you're listening to a really emotional choral piece (one of my favorite things to listen to) and your heart swells with emotion every time the choir moves into a crescendo? And you know the feeling you get when you hit the Magical Musical Mountaintop Moment? In the exact middle of the song, when you know something important is being sung and everyone locks into the most amazing chord and the crescendo slowly builds until everyone in the choir is belting their note. When listening to the choir sing, your insides melt and freeze at the same time, and your heart skips a beat at how incredible it sounds, and there are goosebumps all up and down your arms, and you have to hold your breath for fear of ruining the moment with an exhale too loud.
That is what God's holiness feels like. That is what I experienced when I saw Jesus in the vision. Imagine the best feeling you know and multiply it by at least twenty three. Maybe even twenty four. Probably more. The most amazing part of learning of God's holiness is remembering that someone so holy loves you more than His own holiness, and He sacrificed so much for your own sake with the hope of you loving Him back just as much.
