No, this is not a mother’s day blog. We just wanted all of you mothers (and fathers, of course) to know that everyone is safe and sound here on the Real Life Uganda team.
Kampala- As you have all heard, there were some violent attacks at a few locations throughout the capital city of Kampala, Uganda Sunday night (if you haven’t heard, I’m sure there’s something on CNN or BBC WorldNews). However, I want to let you all know that the team that has been staying in the Kampala area were not at all effected by these attacks, and when we called them to make sure they were alright, they had no clue anything had happened. The team is located outside the main city of Kampala, so they did not even know about it until we called them. The church they are working with have taken these attacks into consideration, however, and are making sure the team does not go anywhere their safety would be questioned. So I want to assure you that your children are very safe. Please pray for the families effected by these attacks.
Lira- The Lira team has not been effected, whatsoever, by these attacks, and you can be assured that the city of Lira is actually quite peaceful. However, for some strange reason (we’re in Africa…) the internet throughout Lira has been incredibly slow for the last week or so. The entire network within the city has been crashing, so what internet connection some people can get is very slow. If you do not hear from your children for a while, do not be alarmed, and you will be informed of anything you need to know. Even though we are not able to blog (or email) as often as we would like, we are still in contact with leadership in the U.S. so they are informed of our well being. Thank you for your patience, and please keep praying God moves in mighty ways in these last 3 weeks.
The Lord is doing a lot of great things in your children here in Uganda, and He is using them to strengthen His Kingdom every day. Thank you for your prayers, and you will hear from us soon. Blessings!
