Sometimes All You Can Do Is Laugh

When I signed up for Adventures In Missions I never realized how soon the adventures would begin. This was by far the most adventurous traveling I have ever done so far.

Aug 31st–fly to Amsterdam (got to tour the city!!)
Sept 1st–fly to Nairobi..spend the night at a hostel
Sept 2nd–go to the "bus stop" aka the side of the street. Waited for the bus stop, for five hours. Sang hankuna matata with a Kenyan and played games with my team. Travel from 9pm-7am to the border. Bumpiest. Ride. Ever.
Sept 3rd-found out that the driver didn't really have a permit to cross the border. Walked through the border to Uganda. Waited 7 hours because the bus that came for us broke. Chatted with George and Musa about movies, school, dreams, etc. Finally got on the bus, my oh my. There were bags in the aisle and one of my team mates had to sit in the aisle. Suitcases were falling, we were constantly being shot 7 feet in the air. Everytime we asked how much longer they just said, "Two more hours." It ended up being an 11 hour ride. When we stopped the bus driver had to come back and wake our entire team up because we were all sleeping so hard.

But amidst all this chaos, God is good. At one point I listened to the song He Reigns on my iPod and waved to all the children on the street. I saw a little girl getting water out of a muddy stream, and I knew that this is why we are here. To love on all of God's beautiful people, not to have convenient travel. One of AIM's sayings is "God cares more about your character than your comfort." Yes, traveling was rough, but so worth it. God totally protected us and taught my entire team a lesson in patience.
I'm so so grateful for every single person on my team/family. We love to laugh, which is such a gift from God. There would be times when we would all wake up from being jolted from the ridiculous bumps, we would look around and just break out in laughter. I'm so thankful for our attitude as a whole, because being miserable and complaining would do absolutely nothing. Its only September 5th and God has already blessed us and grown us. I can't wait to see what He has in store.

What To Pray For
-God's will to be done, and the courage to obey in all circumstances.
-That my team to be a reflection of Christ to all those around us.
-Team unity.
-Protection and health.
-Growth and healing for all those we meet and our team.

God is good! I can't wait to see how He moves. Miracles are about to happen and He shall be glorified!
