My Summer Family

Although it has only been 4 days, I feel like I’ve known my team forever! To be completely honest, I wasn’t super excited about training camp, I was just so ready to be in Uganda- but these past few days have truly been a blessing! Since the first day, our team has had AWESOME unity. From evangelizing to the homeless on the streets of downtown Atlanta to making a human pyramid during team building to painting our mission for the trip on a huge canvas- we are all continuously praying for each other, encouraging each other, and loving on each other! I had a really hard time leaving my family in the midst of hard times and chaos, I so badly just wanted to be able to stay home and comfort them and feel their comfort, I wanted to encourage them and let them encourage me, worry and anxiety began to fill my heart, but after Kelly spoke about surrendering our hearts completely to the Lord, He began to show me that my team IS family! Only family would be able to sleep in such close quarters and not get tired of each other, only with family can I be completely vulnerable, only can family know what to say and when to say it, and the Lord knows that ONLY with family would I be willing to eat foreign foods with our hands out of the same bowl (by the way Momma and Daddy, I think I signed up for Fat Camp- just kidding :D)! I definitely don’t know what the Lord has in store for my and summer family over the next two months, but His presence is BIG and I know without a shadow of a doubt that the hearts of these Ugandan people are about to be ROCKED!
