Muzungu in the Mist

This past week we were able to travel to the area of Kabale
in southwest Uganda. Kabale is one of the most beautiful and fertile areas in
Uganda with endless hillsides quilted with terraced farm plots. The people grow
everything from bananas and irish potatoes to sorgum and maize. We were
welcomed into Juna Amangara Ministries by Mr Herbert and his family who operate
the orphanage, schools and other programs out of Kishanje near Kabale. We
worked in school ministry seeking to spread the love of Jesus to the students
and teachers. This last week our ministry looked very similar to what we did in
Gulu the week before.

As I spend more time in Uganda I have begun to realize our
impact and see that it spreads farther than to just those we focus on. At both
the Secondary School (high school) and Primary School (elementary school) run
through Juna Amangara there are three American girls working as full time
missionaries teaching the students. Leah, Rebekkah, and Molly are those girls.
They have been an inspiration to our team. Their selflessness and devotion to
their work is truly something to honor. As we travelled with these girls they
continually filled us with wisdom and insight into the local culture and
traditions. Hey breathed life into our tired and sick group of mission hungry
college students, inspiring me to spread their story abroad. They asked for
nothing from us as we left but just as they blessed us I want to bless them by
asking you to pray for them as they continue in their mission.

We are now back in Kampala and begin our mission work here
on Tuesday next week. We are taking the next two days off to rest and
rehabilitate. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. Mom, Dad,
Sarah and the rest of my family I love and miss you and will hopefully talk to
you soon! In Christ,

Joseph “of random facts” Batts
