After a long day of ministering to High Schools we were debriefing as a team and everyone was feeling a little overwhelmed and little discouraged. Then in walks three little girls dressed in their school uniforms and one sits down right beside me. I didn’t think much of it at the time but then she but her hand on my knee and smiled up at me while we were praying. Any worries or struggles of the trip were erased and I knew God sent Adokoochmocc to me to show his love and brighten my spirits. She didn’t speak much English but we communicated just the same. We colored pictures together, worked on math problems, and she attempted to braid my white girl hair=) Before she left she took the necklace that was around her neck and placed it around mine (later i learned this is a sign of love in their tribe). I knew God sent me this beautiful little 12 year old girl to show me that no matter where you come from, or what language you speak, his love is the same throughout all of us. Adokoochmocc came to visit our sight everyday after that and we played games and she taught me really great handshakes that brought me back to my childhood. Weither she knows it or not this little girl gave me strengh and encouragement and she will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Everyone and everything is going great here in Uganda! We have been so blessed to not have any sickness come over our group. We are now back in Kampala (our host site) but we have been in Gulu the past week doing ministery in a wide variety of places. Most of our time was spent at the schools, we went to 14 in one week! We also went to the local hospital and a prision. What amazing experiences! I even put my years of forensics to use by performing in the skit that was part of the program we were doing. It was so fun! We are only in Kampala for a couple more days and then we pack up again and head out to Kabale (in southern Africa) where we will be doing another school ministery of sorts. I hope to be able to update you all again soon! I think about everyone often and love you all so very much!!
LOVE always,
Jodie
