I ate Obama

This week I don't have much to share with you, which might be a pleasant surprise after the past few weeks of me rambling on and on and on. It's been a pretty good week! I have enjoyed spending time with my team-mates, ladies at Alpha, and people in the community. Our team presented a skit in church on Sunday that went EXTREMELY well I think. We were all really encouraged by people's responses. Other than that, nothing too major has happened! Except for the time that I ate my own vomit.

Ok so it wasn't literally my vomit, but it might as well have been. It was the most discussing thing I have ever eaten. My ministry group went to have lunch with a new friend and this is what she served us….. first there were boiled sweet potatoes and casava, not great but TOTALLY manageable. Next there was purple playdough. Ok so maybe it wasn't actual playdouugh, because I've eaten playdough and it's a lot better than this stuff! They call it "Obama" (not sure why). It is dark purple with a gritty texture. The flavor really wasn't too strong in comparison to the texture. Next there was mashed up beans that had somehow turned grey. If that wasn't enough she poured what appeared to be peanut oil on top, so it was a peanut- bean mixture that was apparently "good for your heart". She then watched us all as we  ate her feast (and when I say feast, I mean feast! That would be too much food for each of us to eat even if it were tasty!) and made SURE we finished.

Yep. If I could get a picture to upload, I would! It was, well interesting to say the least. But it was yet another reminder to be thankful for the food we are served at Alpha and at home! We also remembered to be thankful that even though we thought we were going to puke, even though our stomachs could not hold one more oz, we had food. And that's more than a lot of people here can say.
Miss and love you all back home! Eat a good dinner tonight for me!
