Harbin-Glorious Warrior

Hello! This week we have started doing morning ministry based off what we have read in the gospels. In our rooms (there are 3 to a room), we are studying what Jesus did when he was on earth, and than doing ministry inspired by that. We were reading the storyof how Jesus fed 5000 with just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. We thought it would be cool to buy 5 chipatti (similar to pita bread or a tortilla), and pass it out by the hospital. We figured even if Jesus didn’t multiply the bread for 5000 people, he would work in some way!
We decided that we would head by the hospital because there is always a ton of people outside around the hospital. As we walked, we saw a small group of ladies and their babies sitting outside a building that ended up being an immunization clinic. We broke the chipatti bread and passed it out to the ladies and their children and just talked and prayed with them. After we had given them all some chipatti, we looked around to see where else we could go.
A group of people were under a tree and a lady motioned us over to give them some chipatti. As we walked over there, we saw a lady laying on the ground on a mat under a sheet. We asked what was wrong with her, and a man translated for us (which by the way, we had prayed that God would provide translators for us.) He said her name was Josephine and she was anemic and her head was hurting very badly. We prayed for her, and than found out that she had just given birth to a baby 6 days ago. They picked up the sheet and we saw a tiny newborn baby. Her mother in law informed us that Josephine’s husband had died, that they had no money for food, and they can’t get home because they lived very far and didn’t have money to pay a taxi. We asked if she could be readmitted to the hospital and they said that since she had been discharged, she could not be readmitted. They said she just needed to go home, and eat and rest to get strong. Josephine looked so weak and could barely lift her head. Darby (one of my great roomies) fed her some chipatti bread and gave her some water.
As we were surrounding Josephine, crowds began to form around us in curiosity. We decided to walk away for a few minutes to figure out what we could do. We called our leader about getting Josephine a ride home but we also felt that she should be readmitted because she seemed so weak and still sick. As we were thinking, a man named John came up to us and asked if we needed any help. He informed us that he worked for the hospital, and he seriously was like an angel sent from God! We explained the situation and he went over to assess the situation. He told us he would go and talk to the doctor, and he also was able to get her some of the meds she needed! He talked to the doctors, and they said that she could be readmitted and get an IV so that she could gain some energy. John (our Guardian Angel haha), asked the lady and her mother in law if they would be willing to go back to the hospital. They did not want to go because there is no food there and none of their family members had been bringing them food. We gave her the rest of our chipatti and water and some others gave her some food as well. We told her that if she went back to the hospital, this would be enough food to get her through tomorrow, and we would come back and get her a ride home if she was ready to be discharged.
Joesphine was able to get up, take her mat and walk over to the hospital!! (We thought that was pretty amazing.) Earlier, Joesphine had said that the baby didn’t have a name yet, so we thought we could maybe suggest some names! The man told us the baby was a boy, and so we were trying to think of a name that meant warrior. Darby’s mom is really into names, so we gave her a call. She texts us several names, and the one we liked the best was Harbin, which means Glorious Warrior. She also said Alexander meant defender warrior. We wrote down both names, and Josephine picked Harbin! We were so excited!!
Yesterday we went to the hospital around noon and the nurses said Josephine could be discharged, she is fine, she just needs to eat food. So we held baby Harbin and waited for the truck to come take them all home. Harbin pooped on Sarah and the nurses changed her blanket. NEWSFLASH, Harbin is actually a girl! The man must have misunderstood haha. Thankfully we feel Harbin can go either way so it works! We drove the family home, and now we are just praying that they are in God’s hands. They live pretty far so we will probably not be able to check up on them but we are trusting that God will provide food for them.
So please keep Josephine, baby Harbin, and her family (she has 5 other children) in your prayers.
Thanks for Reading, Have a Great Day!
